Welcome to Dominoes Rules — a free, friendly home for the timeless game of Dominoes, from classic Block and Draw to Mexican Train and Chicken Foot. Our aim is simple: explain the rules clearly and accurately, without the jargon, so anyone can sit down and play with confidence.
Why we built this site
Dominoes is a wonderful game, but with so many versions it can be hard to know where to start — Block, Draw, Mexican Train, Chicken Foot, and more, each with its own twist on setup and scoring. We created Dominoes Rules to be the clear, reliable guide we wished we’d had when learning: every rule explained step by step, in plain English, and laid out in large, easy-to-read type so the whole table can follow along.

About the author
Every guide on this site is written and reviewed by Alfonso, a lifelong dominoes enthusiast who has spent many years playing and teaching the game in its many forms. Alfonso believes good rules should be easy for everyone to read and follow — which is why each page here is written plainly and laid out clearly. Where a rule differs from one version or region to the next, he explains the most common approach and notes where house rules vary.
Our commitment to accuracy
Few games have as many variations as dominoes, and we take getting them right seriously. We focus on the most widely played versions of each game, double-check our scoring, and always note where common house rules differ — so you can trust what you read and adapt it to your own table.
